Krogen Cruisers Rendezvous
Krogen Cruisers Rendezvous
2009
In the Krogen Cruisers tradition, the 2009 Krogen Chesapeake Rendezvous was held at Calvert’s Marina in Solomons, Maryland. Some cruisers arrived early in the week Wednesday’s gale wind warnings only found a few boaters docking for the rendezvous. Most boats arrived on Thursday when registration took place Thursday afternoon.
Total attendance including boaters arriving by car exceeded 120. The agenda included a welcome by MC and host John Loving followed by a Kadey Krogen Yachts Update by Larry Polster. Craig Parkhust from SeaKits Marine Maintenance gave an informative presentation on maintenance on the water which also included useful emergency equipment.
Maintaining/Fixing Your Krogen While Cruising was a panel discussion with tee Jaroski as moderator and panel members Scotty Wiley, Will Parry and Tom Cooper. It proved to be a lively and informative session. The afternoon started with Peggie Hall on Marine Sanitation Systems. And our favorite Krogen Krawl finished Friday afternoons sessions.
Prior to cocktails, the annual Pet Parade was held. Friday’s dinner was a huge smashing success with beef tenderloins cooked to perfection.
Since Suzanne and Al were unable to be at the rendezvous on Saturday or Sunday, those events will be read via the Krogen Cruisers web site and Krogen newsletters.
Make no mistake, Krogen owners are a close knit family and take pride in the maintenance of their boats and their technical sea skills. Some competitors call Krogen owners a cult. It is simply a diverse group of people all enjoying and taking seriously their ownership of their boats and knowledge of cruising.
2009 Krogen Rendezvous
10/9/09
This year the Krogen Cruisers held their 2009 Krogen Rendezvous from October 8th thru October 12th. Over 40 boats participated along with many Krogenites coming by car. Although Suzanne & Al could only participate for two days, it was a fulfilling time spent with good friends and fellow cruisers.
