Myrtle Beach Yacht Club
2011
Al had a list of 20 items to do aboard Mon Amie during the summer. These included everything from painting the head (bathroom for you land lubbers), stripping the teak decks, polishing the stainless steel, etc, etc.
While in the Myrtle Beach area, Al’s cousins, Stephanie McAndrews and Paul Barich along with Stephanie’s husband, Kevin, visited us aboard Mon Amie for a dinner. It had been a number of years since Al & Suzanne saw Paul. Last year while having Mon Amie moored at the Myrtle Beach Yacht Club, we met with Stephanie and Kevin as well as their daughter, son-in-law and grandson. We caught up on years of things. We also told a lot of stories of times when we were kids.
In preparation for the hurricane season and especially Hurricane Irene, we doubled all lines and added extra spring lines. We also put out all 8 fenders we have. Fortunately, Irene stayed out to sea when passing the Myrtle Beach area. It hit the Outer Banks of North Carolina direct. Our friends, Glenna and Joseph Sevage, had some damage to their home in Oriental, NC. Mon Amie stayed safe in the Coquina Harbor of Little River, SC.
