Thanksgiving in Maine
Thanksgiving in Maine
2012
We flew into Portland on Sunday, November 18th. We had the usual joyous meeting with grandkids along with Adam and Tracy. It’s always good to see Brayden and Chessa. It had been July 4th since we last saw them. And, as grandparents, we see them growing up quickly.
We had a relaxing visit, eating our share of Maine lobster (it’s cheaper than steak there!) and the traditional turkey. It took us all week to finish a 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle.
This year we had a special treat. Al’s nephew, Nik Lohse, drove he, his wife, Laura, and his son, Dez, up to Scarborough to visit with us. We could not pinpoint the date. But, we believe that Adam and Nik who played together as small boys, last saw each other when they were in grade school. Both are now over 40 years old. Nik and his family live in Connecticut and arrived at the Knezevich’s late morning. We had a memorable lunch together with a lot of catching up done. Nik had visited us while we were in Annapolis last summer.
During the week, there was a lot of eating, story telling and one-on-one time with each person. Brayden has a keyboard and is taking piano lessons. Al joined Tracy taking Brayden to his lesson. This brought back many memories from Al. Chessa is into Kareoke and did a lot of singing sarenading us many afternoons.
Friday night before we left, we had dinner at Adam and Tracy’s good friends and neighbors, Rob and Joyce Nadeau. Rob’s sister, Lou Nadeau, and his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Janet Nadeau, as well as Joyce’s sister, Mary Morrisey, all visited Rob and Joyce joining us in a feast. Turkey pot pie was the centerpiece of the table and was accompanied by Rob’s delicious BBQ spare ribs all served after everyone had Al’s home made margaritas. After dinner, Joyce demonstrated her special cape of the Equestrian Order of the Knights of the Holy Sepulcher. She did a great job demonstrating its beauty.
We flew back to Tampa on Saturday, November 25th, and drove to Sarasota to our home aboard Mon Amie.
Thanksgiving 2012
11/24/12
This year, we spent the week of Thanksgiving with Tracy, Adam, Brayden and Chessa at their home in Scarborough, Maine. Although the weather was COLD for those of us who live in the warm climates, Adam had a fire burning in their two fireplaces.
